You don't have to limit yourself to the widest FOV when shooting.

The benefit of the wide-angle lens is that it gives you more "range,"
so you can zoom to "normal" or even longer if that's what works for
the shot. Of course, zooming too far can cause "card-boarding" in
your image if you don't widen the stereo base of the camera.
